charleston harbor 2Last weekend Scofield and I headed to Charleston, SC for a long weekend away to celebrate our third anniversary. Wow, I can’t believe it has been three years already – but what a sweet three years it has been! Living in South Carolina, I’ve spent a good bit of time in Charleston over the years, but I’ve never appreciated it like I do now. So much culture, and so much color … when can we move there!?rainbow row^ Rainbow Row [insert heart eyes emoji here]Bicycles Charlestonwaterfront park charleston sccharleston tripcharleston streetshusk restaurant charleston sc^ Lunch at Husk was fabulous. It might have been one of my favorite ‘moments’ on the trip. We sat outside on the second story porch in an intimate little corner. The weather was cool and there was a nice breeze, and we just chatted and dreamed about our life together. I had heard about Husk when we went to Nashville last year, but we didn’t get a chance to eat there. I was so glad when I saw they have a restaurants in Charleston, too.husk charleston sccharleston love lolasaint alban all daySt Alban Coffee Charleston SC^ My favorite coffee shop we visited was St. Alban. Scofield is so funny….to him, a vacation is a book and a coffee shop. I typically get a little restless spending hours and hours at a coffee shop with him, but not here. Maybe it was the atmosphere? Or the amazing coffee? Or the perfect temperature? [whyyy is starbucks always so cold!?]  So we camped out here one morning and enjoyed every second. The whole atmosphere and decor was so charming!Hominy Grill Charleston SCHominy Grill Charleston SCHominy Grill Charleston SC^ We had brunch at Hominy Grill on our last day before heading home. I think this might be my favorite restaurant in Charleston – and I know that’s a bold statement! For one, I am obsessed with brunch. I’m not a morning person and can never quite get up in time to really enjoy breakfast… So brunch is perfect – I mean, I thrive at that 11 o’clock hour ;). I am also quite the biscuit connoisseur and their biscuits were ahh-mazing. Scofield got the fried green tomato BLT and cheese grits, which they are famous for. He raved about it. Now I’m just waiting for Hominy Grill to come to Greenville…Kings Street Charleston SC^ We spent the afternoon on Friday shopping on King’s Street.Queen Street Grocery queen street grocery love lola blog^ We tried out Queen Street Grocery for brunch (what’d i tell ya…) before heading to the beach on Saturday. It’s a cute little hole in the wall spot on Queen Street with darling outdoor seating and, what we heard, were the best crepes in town. While their crepes were definitely delicious, I honestly don’t think anything can beat the crepes at Tandem. Those will forever be my favorite.charleston love lola blogSullivan's Island SCWe spent Saturday afternoon at the beach on Sullivan’s Island. When we were planning our trip, we didn’t really take into consideration the fact that it was on Memorial Day weekend. I don’t think I have ever seen a beach so crowded, or had so much difficulty finding a parking spot ;). But, of course, the beach was fabulous and relaxing nonetheless.

Some of our favorite spots we visited: St. Alban, Husk, Fleet Landing Seafood, Hominy Grill, Kudu Coffee, Coast, Queen Street Grocery, and Kaminsky’s.

Some spots we missed, but hope to visit next time! – Collective Coffee Co., Callie’s Charleston Biscuits, Glazed Gourmet, The Obstinate Daughter, Sugar Bake Shop, Three Little Birds Cafe, and Taco Mamasita.

Clearly we have a lot of places left to visit, so hopefully that means another weekend trip soon!
