I seem to decorate a little more for Christmas every year. Our first year of marriage consisted of a tiny little Christmas tree in a tiny studio apartment. We used balls of yarn as ornaments, an old suitcase as our tree stand, and wrapped our gifts in brown paper. It was simple, much like our life :). You can see that little post here. It was my first year with a real tree (I grew up with artificial trees) and I fell in love. We continued the tradition and got a real tree the following year, but being in a more temporary space, I strung lights and tassle on it and called it a day. The next year was our first Christmas in our new home, and we were still very much in the middle of renovations. We went tree shopping with our good friends, but I don’t think we ever made it around to actually decorating the tree.
Last year was the first year I put actual ornaments on our tree, haha. You can see that post here. My mom put up a wreath in our house and I lit a few candles, but that was about it. But THIS YEAR … this year we have garland people!! And stockings!! I definitely prefer white, sparkly gold, and bright pops of color to the traditional red and green decor, but what’s new!? ;)
I hope you had a very merry Christmas!
