We’ve slowly been adding more and more christmas decor to our house since we’ve moved in, so every year it gets a little more festive. Christmas is by far one of my favorite times of the year, and there’s nothing like a cozy night in with christmas lights, hot chocolate, music, and a fire. I honestly can’t think of much better! I’m excited to share bits and pieces of our home and how we’re decking the halls this year….

This star tree topper is another favorite find from Anthropologie. You can snag one yourself, here.
I grew up with a fake christmas tree every year. Since we’ve been married we’ve kept the tradition alive of driving up to the mountains to cut down a real one every year. Now that Piper’s a little older and can understand things a bit better, it’s even more fun. We’ll make an entire day out of it and grab christmas lattes from starbucks on the drive up, listen to christmas music, and grab lunch on the way back. It’s one of my favorite traditions and I look forward to it every year.
At first I was skeptical about a real tree and was worried about bugs and critters being an issue. Luckily, we’ve never had an issue with that, and I think the adventure of getting a tree and the christmas tree smell it brings are worth the risk. If tree critters are something you’re concerned about, or something you run into, Terminix has a lot of great information on what to do. It looks like no bugs from a tree will cause any harm, and the best way to handle them is with a vacuum cleaner (phew!).
Little ornament baubles in the entryway.
I grabbed these little bottle brush christmas trees from the dollar aisle at Target, and have loved styling them in Piper’s room and the kitchen.
If you’re looking for some last minute gift ideas, giving the gift of a pest-free home with Terminix is a practical gift that anyone can appreciate! It’s funny how the older I get the things on my Christmas list become less and less fun, like a new vacuum cleaner, tile for our bathroom renovation, and new pots and pans for our kitchen ;). You can also check out the Terminix blog to see how to store your christmas decorations safely to protect them from pests and keep them in the best condition.
There you have it, our Christmas home tour. I’m thinking about stocking up on some decorations after the holidays this year when everything’s on sale. I’ll know I’ll be glad I did when next year rolls around!
