How We Beat the Summer Heat

With summer coming to a close, we’ve been working towards knocking everything out on our summer bucket list. With kids in tow, summer has taken on a whole new meaning. I love seeing the season through their eyes and leading them on adventures.

While there’s technically only one month left of summer, it takes a while for the South Carolina heat to get the Fall memo. While I’m hopeful that cooler temperatures are just around the corner, you’ll find us using these tips and tricks to stay cool…

1. Backyard Blow up Pool

We pulled this guy out on our beach trip this year, and Piper spent hours splashing around. There were even a few times she requested “her pool” over the beach! It’s the perfect size for toddles and adults alike. We were able to work on blowing bubbles, going under water, and floating on our back, and I get to just sit there and cool off ;).

2. Running Through the Sprinkler

Piper calls this one “rain.” It’s also a great way to get all that toddler energy out before nap time!

3. Splash Pad

We spent a lot of mornings and late afternoons at the splash pad. We love this one in Anderson, that is about 45 minutes away from us but worth the drive. In the afternoon there’s a lot of shaded picnic spots and a great waterfall wall. There’s a great one in downtown Greenville by Lazy Goat, and this one in Spartanburg we’ve been wanting to try.How We Beat the Summer Heat | lovelolablog.com

4. Playing at the Beach

I am so jealous of my Charleston friends, and wish we lived closer to the beach. But I look forward to our beach trip every year! We even tampered with the idea of taking a day trip down to the beach this year, but didn’t quite have the guts with two so little. Maybe next year!

5. Boat Rides and Going to the Lake

We have family on the lake, and it has been so much fun taking the kids out there. It’s such a great place to connect with nature and teach them about the world around us, but also stay cool! A long boat ride is my favorite, and Piper loves to swim! We got her this life jacket this summer, and it’s been perfect.

Speaking of swimming, these are my favorite suits for myself and little ones. So cute, and I love how modest, comfortable, and high quality they are! Plus, I can never miss an opportunity to match my girl ;).

We have always had the worst fire ant problem in our yard. It’s such a pain ever year. I also have kids that are extremely susceptible to mosquito bites. So when we’re cooling off in our backyard this summer, we depend on Terminix to keep our yard pest, mosquito, and fire ant free.

What are your favorite summer activities for keeping cool!?

This post is in partnership with Terminix Services, Inc., but all opinions are my own.
