We waited until Piper was born to share with our friends and family what her name was. When we announced to my family that her name was “Piper,” one of the first things my Dad said “Our little Piper Cub.” I thought, “Our little Piper what??” So I learned then and there that there is a 1940’s classic airplane called a ‘Piper Cub.’ My Dad is a pilot and I grew up flying with him from a very young age. He said he use to take us up in our carseats, ha. Flying with my Dad is such a fond memory of my childhood, so I thought it was so fun that we happened to pick a name that to do with airplanes … just another reason we adore the name Piper.
Growing up my Dad flew a little yellow cessna airplane, which to me looks a lot like a Piper Cub. Obviously, I’m not a pilot and anyone who knows anything about airplanes probably completely disagrees ;), but to me they are very similar. Piper has grown so fond of airplanes, and points to the sky and spots them flying above us all the time. She knows that “Papa” flies airplanes, so we thought it would be fun to give her a little tour of the airport and snap some pictures with the Piper Cub from the airport my Dad flies out of. Maybe one day we’ll take her up, but she completely freaked when we put her in the cockpit and tried to climb out, so not sure how well that would go, ha. One day!
