what i've learned since becoming a mom - thoughts by love lola blog

It’s amazing how our little Piper doesn’t do much … eat, sleep, cry, poop … yet she has taught me so much in these past two months of being a mother…

I’ve learned how to function on very little sleep, and that it’s okay to ask for help and let other people see your mess…

I’ve learned how to eat with one arm, how to type with one arm, how to cook with one arm … well, how to do most things with one arm ;)…

I’ve learned to trust my instincts. I read the books that tell you what to do and how to do it, but I’ve found that the “perfect formula” doesn’t necessarily work for everybody. Maybe I don’t do everything “by the book,” but it’s what works for us and that is okay…

I’ve learned that things definitely do not always go as planned and babies will often time do what they want to do, even if it doesn’t fit in your planned schedule ;). So I’ve learned to go with the flow and take things as they come…

I’ve learned you can never have to many burp cloths, and what things really are a necessity with a little baby and what things you don’t really need…

I’ve learned that when you become a mom instinct really does kick in. All the worries and fears that accumulated over nine months just kind of fade away and you really do figure it out…

I’ve learned that my mom is superwoman in disguise, and I hope to one day have her house cleaning and laundry doing powers…

I’ve learned how blessed we are to have the wonderful family and friends that have reached out to help and love on us during this new season…

I’ve learned that when you lose your life, you really do find it. And that when that little baby is laid on your chest, your life changes forever, for the good…

Thanks for sharing! The things you’ve learned about motherhood being instinct is very comforting as we get close to having our baby. Good to know while I’ve read and prepared, it will also just kick in and we will figure out what works for us and our baby. Glad things are going well with Piper and you are enjoying motherhood so much!

I totally relate with all this! The one that caught me by surprise, but in a good way, is now looking at my mother with new appreciation. Its crazy how they seem to do it “so easily” and with more then one kid, when I only have one right now and its already so hard it seems! :)
