The first thing to begin this article with is a hearty congratulations on the birth of your new baby. Your life is never really going to be the same again, and you have many excellent memories to look forward to in the coming years. As a new mother, you want to be able to breastfeed your child in the early stages of life, but for many new mothers, this can be more difficult than anticipated. The bond between mother and child is unbreakable, and yet it can be difficult to get the child to start to drink from his or her mother at the very beginning.

It is important that you listen to your mother and any other members of the family who would like to impart their knowledge to you because they have been through this before, and so they know exactly what they are talking about. The first piece of advice that they will give you is probably to make sure that you buy yourself some quality maternity nursing tops so that you can do the whole procedure properly. However, you need to make sure that your maternity wear is comfortable and of high quality. The following are just some other top tips to make breastfeeding a little easier.

– Keep your baby close – It is important for your baby to know that you are the mother, and so you should always try to keep your baby as close to you as possible right after the birth and for a long while after that as well. Babies know who their mothers are, and this has a link with breastfeeding success for many new mothers.

– You need to have patience – Breastfeeding is a new thing for both baby and mother, and so it’s going to take a little while for everyone to learn what exactly is involved and what needs to be done. It takes some time and patience, so try to relax whenever you are breastfeeding your baby. The most important thing is to not get angry when your baby won’t begin to breastfeed, and you need to give him or her time to get used to you.

– No dummies for your baby – This is quite a confusing time at the beginning of your child’s life, and so if you offer him or her a dummy to put into their mouth, then this will lead to confusion. You need to allow your baby to feed whenever they want milk, and just to make you aware when you are beginning to breastfeed with your baby, it is possible that you may need to feed from the breast up to 12 times in any one day.

If you follow these three pieces of advice, then is no reason why breastfeeding with your baby shouldn’t be a complete success. You should really only be feeding your baby for the first six months, and then after that, you can move them on to more solid food.
